I grew up in a blue collar family in southern West Virginia. My parents worked for everything they have, and I owe them a debt for teaching me that ethic.

The only thing my family ever asked for in return was that I value my education and give my own children better opportunities than I had. This positive upbringing drives me today, as I work to help make this State a better place not just for my own children, but also for your children and grandchildren.

God has given me a blessed life. I have been married to my wife, Maryclaire, for over two decades. She is an accomplished and inspiring woman. We have three wonderful kids who we chose to raise in this State, where they have grown up around good, honest people.

Along the way I have been fortunate to run my own business, serve on numerous local boards and made countless friends. I have lived in rural, suburban and urban West Virginia. I know what the people in those diverse communities want and expect from their elected representatives.

This important because the 55th House District, where I serve you, is a mix of all three of those areas. From the rural areas in Southern Kanawha County to the bedroom communities of our capital to the city streets of Charleston. I can relate to everyone in our District because I've lived and worked in all of the places where you and your family call home.
